ENG vs IND 2018: Rishabh Pant’s Mother Surprised with the Second Ball Six

Team India wicket-keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant surprised everybody with the second ball six in his debut Test against England at Trent Bridge.

Meanwhile, Pant came in the middle after the departure of Virat Kohli, who missed his century by three runs. Facing Adil Rashid, Pant came down the pitch on his second ball of Test cricket to hit an outrageous six to surprise everybody.

Rishabh Pant looked confident as he took on some of the world-class bowlers. Although he managed to put only 27 runs, it had a lot of promise. Meanwhile, this short inning earned Pant a lot of fans back in his country as well.

However, his mother Saroj was “very much surprised” when she saw the shot on television.

I was very nervous when I heard that he would be making his Test debut,” Saroj told The Kashmir Times. “I was very much surprised. Before going into play the Test, he telephoned me and asked me to watch him play on TV. I generally don’t watch matches on TV when he is playing. However, after his father’s recent death, he has been requesting me to watch him play,” she added.

Rishabh Pant’s childhood coach didn’t seem surprised by his show in the third Test between England and India.

Rishabh is a steel [sic] man and among all my other promising pupils, has ability to hit hard. He is mentally very strong and is not only the player with the white ball. He has proved that he can play the red cherry with confidence and against all odds,” he said.

India in a commanding position over England

Hardik Pandya’s magical spell on the second day ensured India a massive lead on day two. He bagged his first five-wicket haul to skittle England for a mere 161 runs.

Rishabh Pant grabbed five-catches on his debut, the first Indian to do so. Although Virat Kohli decided against the follow-on, but the openers provided an excellent start to ensure early pressure on England.

India will look to extend the lead on day three and post a staggering total in a bid to bounce back.
