Virender Sehwag, the former India cricketer, has admitted that whole country believes that team India under the leadership of Virat Kohli can beat England in the ongoing five-match Test series.
Meanwhile, India bounced back in the Test series beating England by 203 runs at Trent Bridge. Kohli led the team with the bat to keep his team in contention.
Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 97 and backed it with the second hundred of the series to crawl back atop the ICC Test Rankings. Kohli is now only one point behind a group of four in the all-time list of batsmen with highest ranking points.
The skipper first earned the pole position after his 149 and 51 in the first Test at Birmingham. However, he dropped to second place after India’s defeat at the Lord’s, but a breathtaking performance has again put him at the top.
With the fourth Test starting on August 30 at Southampton, Virender Sehwag feels India can win the series.
“Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India can defeat England 3-2 to win Test series. It’s tough but not impossible for the current set of players to win the Test series from this stage,” Sehwag told IndiaTV.
Virender Sehwag said he hopes to see the Indian skipper remain in form to lead his side to the series win. He also noted whole India is waiting for Virat Kohli to lead his team to the series win.
“Not just players but the entire nation has its faith in Virat Kohli. India are excessively dependent on their skipper. We hope he continues to score runs in following Test matches as well and take his team to the series triumph,” Virender Sehwag concluded.
