All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja believes India is the only side who can beat England in their backyard ahead of the first of the five-match Test series, starting on Wednesday.
In fact, India has shown the promise to do well in the overseas conditions in the recent past.
Ravindra Jadeja said the current Indian team has a lot of options up in its sleeve. Furthermore, they have good bench strength in the fast bowling battery.
Jadeja is confident of a good show.
Meanwhile, India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are ruled out due to respective injuries. However, the trisome of Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Umesh Yadav are capable of landing their punches on target.
“One good thing about Indian cricket is that we have options. Most of the international teams don’t have bowling options left after retirement, but we have everything right now. We have a positive approach towards this series and we genuinely feel that we are the only side that can beat England in their own backyard,” Jadeja told ‘ESPNcricinfo’.
Furthermore, Ravindra Jadeja said India has experience on their side. The all-rounder said Indian team comprises players who have played 25-30 Test matches, which is going to be the key.
“Yes, we have more experienced players and most of our players have played a minimum of 25-30 Test matches. Experience is useful in Test Cricket. England has good fast bowlers who can exploit their home conditions”.
Ravindra Jadeja went on to add they have some good fast bowlers. The Saurashtra’s player said as they have a good experience in Test cricket, they can even go on to dominate the hosts in the upcoming series.
“We also have some good bowlers, but during our 2014 tour, we didn’t have enough experience. We were unaware of how the wicket would behave and how the weather will be. Now we are aware of the conditions and after so much experience in Test Cricket, I feel we can even dominate them,” he concluded.
Ravindra Jadeja said India has improved as a side while playing in the foreign conditions. Thus, if they can execute their skills as well as their plans, they can savour success on the England soil.
