England renews Saqlain Mushtaq’s contract as spin bowling coach

The England cricket team, subsequent to their win over the Pakistan team at old Trafford have rewarded their spin bowling coach Saqlain Mushtaq by renewing his contract as the spin bowling consultant of the team.
Mushtaq was roped in as the spin bowling consultant after the brilliant Yasir’s show at the Lords. Yasir pouched a 10 wicket haul at Lords and stole the show with his brilliant spell. Post that the England team management decided to call up Mushtaq so as to tackle their spin problems.

The England management might render his services for a long time to come as they are set to travel Bangladesh and India later this year. The presence of Mushtaq will surely help them tackle their spin problems here.

“Both Mo (Moeen Ali) and Rash (Adil Rashid) enjoyed working with him very much. By the sound of it, it was very positive and we’ll look to use him again,

It wasn’t necessarily a lot of technical coaching. I’m sure he mentioned one or two things – it was more tactical. That’s where we think both Rash and Mo need to make improvements to go ahead in the international game.” Said the coach of England team Trevor Bayliss.

“He has put himself under a bit of pressure, I think. When you do that, it’s difficult to bowl at this level. But he bowls wicket-taking balls. For me, he’s got to work on his consistency to get the ball to bounce in the one spot a lot more often,” Bayliss said about Moeen Ali.

Moeen Ali was in a danger of losing his place ahead of the second Test to spinner Adil Rashid but Cook decided to give him another chance which Ali grabbed with both the hands. He went onto scalp 5 wickets, even Joe Root went on to take a wicket in the lone over he bowled in the game.

It is evident that spin bowling tips from Mushtaq have been helpful for the team and they are looking to cash upon it for a long time to come.
