The International Cricket Council (ICC) asked the fans to name their favourite captain of the decade, and the voices came united with MS Dhoni. Twitter was loaded with the netizens tagging MS Dhoni as the best captain in the world cricket.
The former Indian skipper, who entered in the international cricket arena with an inauspicious duck start in the ODI, went on to become the run-machine. In his fifth ODI against Pakistan, Dhoni butchered the team scoring 148 runs in the game. And it did not end there, the Ranchi boy with big locks soon became famous for hitting brutal scores against his opponents.
One performance leads to another, and soon Dhoni was named the captain of the India National Cricket team, supported by the seniors like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. The results of his “cool captaincy” were visible when the inexperienced Indian side won the maiden title of the inaugural ICC World T20 in 2007.

The veteran Indian wicketkeeper retired from Test cricket in 2014, and in early January 2017, Dhoni relinquished his captaincy from the limited-overs which is now led by Virat Kohli. Nevertheless, the most-loved cricketer of the Indian team is still leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Fans on their part made it clear in the replies that it is MS Dhoni who takes that mantle. Twitter was loaded with Dhoni’s fans commenting his name on the post.
“Fav Captain Fav WK Fav player One man @msdhoni !” said one fan. “MS DHONI all the way…The best ever Indian captain and one of the best in world cricket…” said another.
Meanwhile, ever since the 1983 World Cup, India has only two more ICC world titles on the shelf which came under Dhoni’s captaincy. Dhoni led the team to win the 2007 ICC World T20 trophy and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Captain Dhoni also guided the Indian team to win the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
Fans kept tweeting images of Dhoni holding the champions trophy and even got some votes from across the border.
“MS Dhoni #Love and #respect from Pakistan,” said a fan.
