The Australian fast bowling spearhead, Mitchell Starc, is ready in time for the upcoming much-awaited Test series against South Africa. The tall and lanky pacer suffered an injury during a practice session with Australian cricket team at Oval as he collapsed with a training equipment awkwardly and found it difficult to walk thereafter. Later, he was taken to the hospital and received 30 stitches on his leg as a result of the collapse.
He was not a part of 5 matches ODI series against South Africa which the hosts won by a margin of 5-0. The Aussie team missed the services of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood as both were rested for the series. Strac had a tough break as he was busy in recovering and getting fit for the Test series. It was really a tough time for Starc.
A fit in time Starc is set to participate in the Test series against Proteas. He has announced his arrival and will play the NSW Blues first Sheffield Shield match of the season against my FootDr Queensland Bulls, starting next Tuesday. The match will be played under lights with a pink ball which will be an ideal practice for Starc before the second Pink ball Test against South Africa which is to be played at Perth.
Here is what Starc said on being fit befoe the Test series “I’m available for (state) selection,” Starc said on Thursday.
“I’ll hopefully be on that plane on Monday to Brisbane and get some good bowling in and be back playing and ready to go for that first Test.
“The first session I had about a week and a half, nearly two weeks ago, was a bit tight trying to stretch that skin a little.
“Since then it’s been fine. I’ve been bowling off the long run at a net session with the Blues boys (on Tuesday) and will bowl at them again today and probably have another session before going over to Brisbane on Monday.
“Hopefully I can hurry up a few more batsmen next week in Brisbane.
“I’ll be bowling to a few guys in the (Sri Lanka tour) Test squad in Joey Burns and Usman Khawaja so I’ll be looking to make them jump around.
“Hopefully knock Joe over with the new ball.”
The Test series between India and South Africa will kick off on November 3.
