In the cricket world, every day a new record is either formed or broken. But to think a day when a batsman will score a double hundred in the T20 format. It seems hard to, Doesn’t it? However, cricket pundits believe that as the game is evolving, there will be a day sooner when the batsman would register double ton in the shortest format of the game.
Once scoring a triple century in ODIs seemed to be a tough task but soon Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma showed that it is not impossible. So, here in this article, we have discussed the five batsmen who have the caliber to score a double century in T20.
Rohit Sharma:
Rohit Sharma is the white-ball specialist cricketer. He is the only one batsman to score three times the double century in ODIs. Since he has been promoted to openers position in Team India, he has never stopped the scoring run and building new records.
India’s white-ball vice-captain is also the second-highest score in the shortest format, scoring 2773 runs in 108 T20I matches. His highest T20I score is 118 which he registered against Sri Lanka. There is no doubt that soon we will see the right-hander scoring 200 runs in the shortest format.
Chris Gayle:
Well, the player who holds the highest individual score in T20 can not be ignored from this list. He is unarguably the greatest T20 batsman of all time. He has scored more than 10,000 runs in the shortest format becoming the highest scorer in the T20 format.
He registered the highest individual T20 score against Pune Warriors in IPL 2013. He struck 175* runs in just 66 balls, including 13 fours and 17 vivacious sixes. So, certainly, the 40-year-old will score double hundred in T20 when at one day he will be at his best form.
Andre Russell:
Andre Russell’s masterstroke for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League is evident to every cricket fan. He is the mainstay for the franchise, scoring massive runs with his explosive batting. Not only in IPL but also he dominates across all the T20 leagues in the cricket world. Sooner, with his explosive batting, he would smack the opposition to score double hundred in T20.
Russell has so far played 49 T20Is and scored 540 runs. He has also scored more sixes than fours, registering 42 sixes and 32 fours.
Chris Lynn:
Whenever Chris Lynn‘s name is heard first, the only thing that comes in mind his explosive batting in the leagues. In the PSL 2020 edition, Lynn played whirlwind innings scoring unbeaten 113 runs off 55 balls against Multan Sultans. He was awarded as the Man of the Match for his brilliant show. Seeing Lynn’s record-breaking knocks, it can be assured that he could be the first to register double hundred in T20s.
David Warner:
The Aussies batsman David Warner is the power-hitting opening batsman for his country as well as Sunrisers Hyderabad. He hits the bowl hard and shows no mercy to bowlers when in the field. His records in the Indian Premier League speaks the same. He has three times won the orange cap for being the highest scorer.
