Foreign players to look out for in this IPL

One of the most glamorous cricket tournaments in the world, IPL can be regarded as the “most loved’ one too. The cricketers from every nation are keen on playing in the tournament as it is not only a lucrative league but also a great learning opportunity for the players.
Almost every star cricketer around the globe plays in this league. We have numerous players who can just rock the event with their presence.
Here are six players who can make it big in this edition of Indian Premier League edition.

1. Ab de Villiers

A brutal batsman, and an agile fielder that can put an acrobat to shame – there are very few things that de Villiers cannot do on a cricket field. Bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for USD 1.1 million at the IPL Player Auction 2011 ,he has joined hands with Chris Gayle in tearing bowling attacks apart . During the 2012 season, when playing the role of a finisher, he snatched wins from the jaws of defeat. He unearthed some outrageous shots to incredible effect and in one over, smashed Dale Steyn for 23 – hitting him for two fours and two sixes – to win RCB a thriller. The menace of de Villiers continued in the next season which led the RCB management to retain him in their ranks. de Villiers’ most brutal IPL innings came in the 2015 season when he decimated the Mumbai Indians attack at the Wankhede Stadium, smashing an unbeaten 133 off 59 balls. He has already scored two fifties in two matches and looks like the player to watch out for in this season.

2. Andre Russell

Andre Russell is one of only two allrounders – Dwayne Bravo is the other – to score 2000-plus runs and take 100-plus wickets in T20s since 2013. Russell’s ability to hit the ball long and hard, and do it consistently, is one of his biggest attributes. Of the 36 instances, he has played 15 or more deliveries in T20s since the start of 2013, 18 times he has finished with a strike rate of 200 or more. Twenty-nine times during  this period he has scored 30 or more runs in an innings, and his strike rate in these 29 innings is 208.45. Russell has shown himself to be adaptable and capable of bowling at different stages of an innings. His economy rates are reasonable at different stages of an innings, and he is a wicket-taker in the first six and last five overs of the innings. Along with this, his fielding makes him a true asset in this format.

3. Martin Guptill

To everyone’s surprise, he remained unsold in the IPL auction. But due to Lendl Simmons injury, Mumbai Indians chose him as his replacement. Guptill is one of the most in-form players in international cricket in the past couple of years.  His batting record for New Zealand in limited overs cricket has been top class and of late he has been playing the big shots with ridiculous ease.He was arguably New Zealand’s best batsman in the recently concluded World T20. He will be the one to watch out for in this year’s IPL.

4. Mustafizur Rahman

The most googled person of Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman is certainly one of the most exciting prospects of this year’s IPL. Blessed with a freakishly supple wrist that can snap through 90 degrees at the point of release, batsmen have found it tough to handle
his slower ones. He is arguably one of the best death bowlers in the world right now.

5. Dwayne Bravo

This star bowler from West Indies has always been an asset in this format of the game. His accuracy in the death overs and ability to take wickets at crucial junctures along with useful contributions with the bat and tight fielding can play a vital role for newcomers Gujarat
Lions.

6. Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen is in sensational form in the T20 format. He scored runs in every T20 league he played last year. Pietersen was impressive in the recently concluded Big Bash League as he helped his team Melbourne Stars to reach the finals, though, they ended up a the runners-up.
