It Will Be Shame If Dada Has To Leave In 10 Months: Gautam Gambhir On Sourav Ganguly’s BCCI’s President Tenure

Since Sourav Ganguly has taken the charge of BCCI’s President, hopes of revolutions in the Indian cricket has increased. Expectation are high from the former Indian captain but time is less. He will hold the office for 10 months after which he will go to the cooling-off period. Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is wretched with the fact of the cooling period.

Sourav Ganguly has experience in the administration department. He has held the tenure of the president in Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) for two tenures. According to Lodha Committee, after serving for six years in any of Indian cricket administrative office, the official has to go for a cooling-off period for three years. So, Sorav Ganguly will also have to follow the rules.

Gautam Gambhir showed his discontent with the concept cooling off period. He marked that officials like Sourav Ganguly are needed in the business. Gambhir opined that Ganguly has skills which are needed for the post of the president. It is believed that he will deliver his best for his current post.

“Personally speaking, I am not a big fan of the cooling-off period for office-bearers. I have said this before and I will say it again that Indian cricket needs individuals like Sourav Ganguly. They not only have minds of their own but they also have a vision and ability to lead inclusive growth,” Gautam Gambhir wrote.

“Besides, he knows his weaknesses better than his strengths and knows how to work on them. It will be a shame if Dada has to leave after 10 months. At the same time, I am not suggesting to undo the fantastic work done by Lodha Committee,” he added in his lines to Times of India.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly, after taking the post, has taken a major decision of introducing day-night Test match in Indian cricket. India and Bangladesh will play the second Test match with the pink ball at Eden Gardens, starting from 22nd November.
