Geoffrey Boycott the England cricket legend has been associated with the sport for a long time. He is one of the most experienced people still working for the game in one way or another. He has given the new Test captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli a small piece of advice.
Talking to espncricinfo, Boycott said that Kohli needa to find ways to get his team behind him. He said that it will not be easy to replace someone like Dhoni and that Kohli has to make it work quickly. Boycott said that Kohli will have to channel his passion and harness it in a positive way. He said that he will be constantly to MSD and that Kohli has it in him to match the success rate of the ex skipper.
The batting legend was all praises for Team India’s director Ravi Shastri. He said that the fact that India does not have a coach yet appeals to him. He said that players at the international level should not be coached and that a manager is the proper word to use for the role. He said that Shastri was one of his favorite players and said that his role in the India team is well suited to his profile.
He added that the captain must make his own decisions on the field and that coaches will not be able to help them during the game. He pointed out that Clarke and McCullum are doing a great job at the moment in international cricket.
Boycott also wanted the England Cricket Board to consider picking Kevin Pieterson for the Ashes series at home. He said that Bell was lacking in confidence and that KP would be a better option at the moment.
