Former Australian bowling great Glenn McGrath believes that Mitchell Johnson bowling on the bowling-friendly home wickets and his attacking batting can help Australia clinch the World Cup title next year.

Mitchell Johnson almost secured a draw for his team with a gritty innings of 61 in the recently concluded first test against Pakistan at Dubai. He also picked up 3 wickets in the match.

Glenn McGrath quoted:

“Someone like Mitch, when he’s bowling well it has a positive effect on his batting and the reverse is also true. It goes hand in hand as he’s a natural striker of the bowl and the way he bowls, with that pace and now with that control, I’m so happy for him.”

McGrath was also pretty impressed with the way Australian team had performed over the last year and felt that playing the World Cup at home would give them an extra added advantage to perform.

He said:

“We’ve been playing some very good cricket of late and we’re a tough team to beat at home. It can be tough being the home country with a little bit of more pressure and expectations but you can use that to your favour as well.”
