Grant Flower Likely To Be Released As Pakistan Batting Coach

Grant Flower is likely to be released by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the batting coach of the team after the board analyse the performance of the support staff.

It has been learned that PCB is not happy with the work of Flower, as he has not delivered up to the expectations. Along with him, there will be a deep analysis of other members of support staff but it is believed that Flower will be the only outgoing person from the backroom staff. The meeting will be conducted after Micky Arthur will reach Pakistan and meet Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq.

“A review committee which includes former Test players Haroon Rasheed, Mudassar Nazar and the PCB’s chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad will submit a report on the performances of the coaches. It will be discussed at the Governing Board meeting on July 29 after which a decision will be made on retaining or releasing the support staff,” a source said.

Grant was appointed as the batting coach of Pakistan in 2013 and it has been a mixed results of bag for him, as Babar Azam has been the only young prodigy who has emerged as the next batting star for the team. Though he is yet to emulate his ODI success in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, there is a controversy that has erupted in Pakistan cricketing fraternity after Inzamam-ul-Haq, the chief selector of Pakistan cricket team, was paid an amount of 10 million – as a reward for Pakistan winning Champions Trophy – which was nine million more if compared to the amount paid to other selectors. This has resulted in criticism of the former Pakistan captain and questions are being raised for nepotism in PCB.

Already, in Inzamam earns a huge amount as the Chief Selector of the team and this scenario has also divulged another case of favouritism in PCB.
