Apr 21, 2016 at 11:19 PM
The 15th match of the season saw two teams with contrasting fortunes taking on each other. The only unbeaten team in the tournament Gujarat Lions welcomed Sunrisers Hyderabad at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
Sunrisers Hyderabad were looking to gain some momentum after registering their first win in the tournament in their last match while Gujarat Lions were looking to clinch the top spot.
Following the trend of this season, Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner decided to ball first after winning the toss.
Gujarat Lions got off to a poor start as they lost in-form opener, Aaron Finch, cheaply. Suresh Raina was the lone bright spot in Gujarat Lions’ batting as the other batsmen fell like a pack of cards. Gujarat Lions could score only 138 from their 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a brilliant start for the first time in the tournament and in fact, their openers remained unbeaten to take them home without any hiccup.
David Warner was in a punishing mood as he went after Praveen Kumar, smashing him for four fours in an over. SRH got past fifty even before the power play ended and were on course to complete a comfortable win.
Let us see how the players fared for SRH:
1. David Warner: 4.5/5
Continued his brilliant form with the bat. Played aggressively in the powerplay to completely end any hope of a fightback from Gujarat Lions.
2. Shikhar Dhawan: 3.5/5
