Sunil Joshi-led the national selection committee’s first assignment will be to select the India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. The home series will run between 12th March and 18th March.
Earlier this week, Joshi and Harvinder Singh were selected as the two new members in the selection panel. Joshi replaced MSK Prasad from the chief selector’s position while Harvinder replaced Gagan Khoda, who presided the central zone.
Selection committee first meeting on injury update:
According to the Hindu newspaper, the first meeting of the selection panel is likely to be more of injury updates. The selectors will take look at the fitness of three players who are recovering from the injury.
The three players are Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Shikhar Dhawan. The trio is currently playing in the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup 2020. The reports further claimed that all three players are set to be recalled for the South Africa series after recovering from their respective injuries.
Hardik Pandya’s enthraling show at DY Patil T20 Cup:
His performance in the DY Patil T20 Cup speaks volumes about his recovery. The star all-rounder was out of action for the past eight months as he went under surgery and then was had to undergo rehabilitation programme at the Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA).
However, the long break doesn’t seem to affect his hard-hitting prowess.
Playing for Reliance 1, he scored 158 off 55 balls in the semifinal against BPCL. His marvellous innings includes 20 gigantic sixes. Earlier, he scored a century out of 37 balls and also picked five-wicket against CAG.
On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar and Dhawan are not effective like Hardik Pandya in the tournament. The way Hardik batted and bowled in the tournament, he looked fit – and is very much expected to be in the squad for the impending South Africa ODI series.
