Harsh Goenka, the brother of Rising Pune Supergiant owner Sanjiv Goenka, ended up making a mockery of himself at the hands of the cricket followers after posting a so-called ‘humourous’ tweet after India’s loss at the hands of Pakistan in the finals of the Champions Trophy 2017 at the Kennington Oval, London.
Following the loss, Harsh, who previously courted trouble in the social media for indirectly mocking MS Dhoni, tweeted calling out Minister of External Affairs of India (he mentioned her name but did not tag her twitter handle) to help 11 Indians who were stranded in London.
This tweet ended up leaving a bad taste among fans and certainly did not serve the purpose of being humorous (except the couple of his friends from Bollywood).
Team India did face some trolls after the match. The loss was unexpected and some felt really upset about it. So, naturally, there were reactions. Some showed optimism while other used their witty side to digest the loss and also defend the team. But, at the same time, there were few who posted senseless tweets in order to mock the side and the business tycoon Harsh Goenka ended up being the most famous and recognisable face from that clan.
This is not the first time Harsh has come in the limelight for tweeting. During the IPL 2017, he faced the ire of the fans for taking an indirect dig at MS Dhoni. He constantly attempted to compare Dhoni with other players using statistics.
Here are the comments that he made during the tournament.
‘Smith proves who’s the king of the jungle. Overshadows Dhoni totally. Captains innings. Great move to appoint him as captain,’ Goenka had tweeted.
“#RPS batting statistics until now – Manoj Tiwari, Rahane, Christian have the best strike rates,” he wrote.
However, Dhoni wasn’t out of rhythm for long and began performing well as the tournament progressed. This made Harsh take a U-turn.
“Masterful innings by Dhoni. Great to see him back in form. Nobody can be a greater finisher. Takes @RPSupergiants to a nail-biting win,” Goenka wrote after Dhoni took Pune home against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad with an unbeaten fifty during the league stages.
