Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan expressed concern about Ashwin’s action heading into the ODI World Cup in India. According to Sivaramakrishan, Ashwin has himself called Siva seeking advice after the latter was trolled on social media for asking him to alter his bowling action.

Ravichandran Ashwin played in two of the three ODIs against Australia and put on a fantastic performance picking crucial wickets in the middle overs. The 37-year-old performed exceedingly well for the Indian team in the three-match ODI series, which prompted the selectors to include him in the ODI World Cup in the absence of injured Axar Patel.

Taking his X handle, Being a star spinner during his playing days, Sivaramakrishnan explained how Ashwin’s action lacks synchronization and he even shared a picture to support his point and urged the veteran all-rounder to correct his action to be more effective in the World Cup.

“This picture has gone viral on SM. Enlarge the image and you notice his non-bowling arm and upper body has opened up towards the offside. If you look at his lower body is closed. This leads to a lack of synchronisation. Ash quickly needs to correct this to be more effective,” Sivaramakrishnan posted.

Sivaramakrishnan faced criticism from fans for his suggestion to Ravichandran Ashwin to make technical changes. Many fans were harsh on him, which led to a heated argument between the cricketer-turned-commentator and some of the fans. Sivaramakrishnan even criticized Ashwin’s performance in SENA countries during the argument.

Although many people criticized Siva for his critical opinion, the former India star revealed on social media that Ravichandran Ashwin himself called him to discuss the technical flaws in his bowling. Ashwin also made it clear that those who were trolling Siva had no connection to him.

“Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action, he was as shocked with the venom of the trolls as I was. Also clarified that the people involved are in NO WAY connected to him. GOOD LUCK @ashwinravi99. Do us proud,” he posted on X.

The Indian cricket team made a late change to their squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup. They brought back experienced off-spinner R Ashwin to replace the injured Axar Patel in the 15-man squad, who impressed in the Australia ODI series.
