ToggleThe young batting sensation of the West Indies Cricket team, Shimron Hetmyer is on the seventh sky lately. The 22-years-old batsman has played a marvelous innings in the West Indies’ victorious first ODI in Chennai. He had scored off 139 runs from 106 balls with 11 fours and seven sixes. However, in all the other games (three T20Is and the rest two ODIs) Hetmyer could not replicate the same level of performance.
However, the Caribbean cricketer was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. RCB previously bought him for INR 4.2 crore ahead of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League. Hetmyer played his debut IPL match against the defenders Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where he went out for ducks. In a total of five matches, he could score only 90 runs for the Bangalore based franchise.
Hetmyer ends 2019 with another good news:
After the not so good debut IPL season, there wasn’t much hope for the cricketer to be given another chance. Nevertheless, this auction turned out to be even better for the Caribbean youngster as he was purchased by the Delhi-based franchise for a whopping INR 7.75 Cr. DC, Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were involved in a bidding war as soon as Hetmyer came into the limelight of the auction.
He became the second-most expensive Windies cricketer in this IPL auction after Sheldon Cottrell who was bought by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
Hetmyer proposes his girlfriend Nirvani Umrao on Christmas:
In the meantime, Hetmyer’s girlfriend Nirvani Umrao posted a picture of her ring finger to reveal the two of them being engaged. The southpaw proposed his girlfriend Nirvani on Christmas eve for marriage, giving another big reason to celebrate.
Nirvani posted a picture of herself wearing a ring with a quote:
“My love asked me to marry him on Christmas Day and I said yes!!! I love you baby”
With a fine outing in India this month, where he scored a match-winning 85-ball century in the first ODI, a good deal with Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 auction and now his engagement, Hetmyer had a beautiful end to 2019.
