  1. Sri Lanka 952 for six declare vs India:

On August 2, 1997, Sri Lanka National Cricket Team registered the overall highest Test score by a team.

At Colombo, the hosts piled misery upon visiting India in the second innings of the Test match. India managed to score 537 for eight before declaring their innings.

For India, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sachin Tendulkar and Mohammad Azharuddin smashed hundred each.

Southpaw Sanath Jayasuriya scored magnificent triple hundred. He scored 340 off 578 balls. During his 799-minute stay at the crease, Jayasuriya smashed 36 fours and two maximums.

Moreover, Roshan Mahanama smashed brilliant 225 off 561 deliveries, as Arvinda de Silva managed to score 126.

England Cricket Team registered their highest-ever Test score of 903 for seven when they declared their innings against Australia in August 1938. Three Lions eventually maintained second overall spot by scoring highest Test score by a team.

Batting first England’s opener Leonard Hutton scored a remarkable triple ton which further saw Maurice Leyland and Joe Hardstaff Jnr smashing a ton each.

In response, Australian National Cricket Team was bowled out on 201 before the enforced follow-on. In the second innings, Australia was rattled at 123.

Thus, England won the game by an innings and staggering 579 runs.

Way back in 1930, England posted 849 runs in 258.2 overs against Windies at Kingston. It eventually stands their highest Test score by a team.

Overall in the 193rd Test, England remarkably achieved the feat before the game was drawn owing to the consent of both skippers.

Batting first, England opener Andy Sandham, who represented Surrey smashed a brilliant triple ton. To be precise, Sandham faced 640 deliveries for his 325.

In addition to, wicketkeeper-batsman Les Ames scored 149 off 174 deliveries.

In response, the Windies team was bundled out on 286 before England posted 272 on the board. However, the Windies managed to stay put at the crease while scoring 408 for five in 164.3 overs.

  1. Windies 790 for three declare vs Pakistan:

Windies posted their highest-ever Test team total against Pakistan National Cricket Team at Kingston. The Caribbean team amassed 790 for three before declaring their innings.

After Pakistan batted first to post 328 Caribbean batters walked in to make the case worse for Pakistan. The wicketkeeper-batsman Imtiaz Ahmed managed to score 122.

In response, Garry Sobers remained unbeaten on 365 as Sir Conrad Hunte scored 260. In a nutshell, Pakistan was folded out on 288 to witness Windies clinching the match by an innings and 174 runs.

Also, Windies bagged the fourth position as the highest Test score by a team.

Pakistan had registered their highest Test score as a Team in 2009 at Karachi.

Interestingly, batting first Sri Lankan batters made most out of the opportunity. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene alongside Thilan Samaraweera struck a double century each as Lions post 644 for seven in their first innings.

However, Pakistan was equally up to the Task to score their highest Test innings score of 765 for six.

Well, Younis Khan rose to the occasion which saw him smashing brilliant triple hundred. He scored 313 runs off 568 balls.

Moreover, wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal remained not out on 158 off 184 balls.

The high-scoring Test match ended on a draw.

  1. Sri Lanka 760 for seven vs India

In 2009, Sri Lanka had somewhat a good outing against India.

However, at Ahmedabad, Indian National Cricket Team batted first to post 426 on the board. But in response, the Lions mark hosts to toil hard with the ball.

The then skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 110 as top-order veteran Rahul Dravid managed to post 177.

Batting first on a placid-looking Chennai Surprise, England managed to score 477. Moeen Ali scored 146.

But Indian batters made a meal of English bowlers. Unlucky, KL Rahul perished on 199. However, Karun Nair remained unbeaten on 303. But in response, England could post just 207 as India clinched the game by an innings and 75 runs.

  1. Australia 758 for eight vs Windies:

Australia’s highest Test total came against the Windies at Kingston in June 1955. While playing overall 408th Test, Australia managed to restrict the Windies on 357 even a 155-run knock came from the bat of Clyde Walcott.

Australia in its first innings put a mammoth 758 run total on the board. Neil Harvey registered brilliant 204 as Colin McDonald, Keith Miller, Ron Archer and Richie Benaud smashed a hundred each.

However, Windies in their second innings banked on Walcott again who scored 110. The Caribbean team was bowled out on 319.

Eventually, Australian won the match by an innings and 82.

  1. Sri Lanka 756 for five declare vs South Africa:

Sri Lanka managed to make it on the list of highest score by a team on three occasions. In July 2006, Sri Lanka took on South Africa National Cricket Team‘s bowlers at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.

After rattling South African on 169, the Sri Lankan batters put on a fantastic show at their home ground. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene led from the front to smash brilliant 374. He spent 752 minutes at the crease as Kumar Sangakkara equally supported him. The left-handed veteran amassed 287 runs which helped the Island Nation to post 756 on the board before the declaration.

In their second innings, the Proteas had shown some resistance with the bat. But they went on to lose the game by an innings and 153 runs after their innings was wrapped on 434.

  1. Windies 751 for five declare vs England:

Windies team has maintained the tenth spot on the list of teams with the highest totals in the Test circuit.

The Caribbean team posted 751 for five on board against England at St John’s Stadium in April 2004.

In the very same game, the then skipper Brian Lara smashed unbeaten 400. While spending 778 minutes at the crease, Lara faced 582 deliveries for the world-record knock.

Windies declared their first innings total on 751.

England managed 285 in their first innings before follow-on was enforced. However, visitors looked in complete control as they posted 422 runs for the lost five wickets in the second innings.

The game eventually ended on a draw which eventually wraps it as the tenth overall highest Test score by a team.
