After a world class fielding performance in Sri Lanka, Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane got a surprise to envy for when he returned home.
Ajinkya Rahane, along with his family, had already planned to shift to their new address in Mulund. So as Rahane came back winning the Sri Lanka series and a lot of praises for his slip catches record, he directly entered his new home where a surprise was awaiting him. Without letting him know, a life-size portrait of him hitting one of his signature shot had been painted on the wall of his room.
The artist to do the honour is Manish Parab. Manish holds a degree from the well-known Sir JJ School of Art and said that he had been given a number of options that included Rahane’s signature shots and he had to choose one from them. Everything was planned by Rahane’s father including hiring Manish Parab and he is happy with the outcome, as per news.
“Ajinkya did not know about it and was pleasantly surprised to see the huge sketch on the wall. The family had planned to shift to their new home after Ajinkya’s return from Sri Lanka. They did so on Saturday, an auspicious day (Janmashtami). Nobody in the Rahane household has stopped smiling because their dear boy scored a century at number three and, more importantly, helped India win the series 2-1,” a source close to the family revealed.
Amongst all, the moment taken by the artist is from India’s tour to England in the year 2014. In the shot, Rahane sends the ball over mid-off during the 3rd ODI played at Nottingham. Here is a look of the real and the artistic brilliance:
