The discarded India off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, has said he is still very hopeful of making a comeback in the Indian team. Bhajji last played for India in Asia Cup 2016 against UAE,
“I am still very confident to make a comeback. I have been working very hard. My pre-season training has been really good. I will play all the domestic tournaments and give my hundred percent to earn a spot in the national team. I am quite hopeful to make a comeback. Just keeping my fingers crossed,” Bhajji told Sportswallah.

Once a permanent member of the side, Harbhajan Singh lost his place to Ravichandran Ashwin in the Indian team in 2011. Soon, Ashwin became a permanent member of the Test side as well, even when Harbhajan was a part of the team. The emergence of Ravindra Jadeja meant there was no room left for a second spinner as well and now, Harbhajan Singh is not a member of team India in any format.

He is yet to play an ODI since 2015, whereas, his last Test appearance came in the same year on tour to Sri Lanka. Also, he is not in the scheme of things due to the emergence of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. Karn Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem are also knocking doors of the Indian team by performing for India A.
To an extent, Bhajji is also responsible for him not being considered for a place in the team, as he did not play even a single Ranji game last season, despite the fact team India had a long home season.

Last year, we saw comebacks of Parthiv Patel, Yuvraj Singh and Abhinav Mukund too and Bhajji could have been the one if he would have performed well, but he decided not play cricket.
This season though, he has himself revealed he would play more games, but it has already been confirmed that he is all set to miss the first two Ranji fixtures and it is to be noted the board has cut down the number of league games from eight to six.
