I Fear About Quitting Crickets, Says Wasim Jaffer After Scoring 11000 Ranji Runs

Wasim Jaffer, the veteran opener, who shifted his base from Mumbai to Vidarbha a few seasons ago, scaled 11000 Ranji Trophy runs during his 153 runs knock against Baroda. Over the years, he has scored heavily in the domestic cricket and has been pivotal for any teams he has played.
Talking to The Indian Express about his journey with Vidarbha, Jaffer noted that he is happy to be a part of two significant wins for Vidarbha. He also admitted that he is working harder to keep himself fit every day.

“Playing for a different state is always a challenge and I’m happy to be part of two major wins in Vidarbha’s history. I’m working harder, more than before, to keep my motivation going and keep myself fit. I’m enjoying the role of playing mentor to these young boys,” Wasim Jaffer said.
I fear about quitting
When asked about his retirement plan, the talismanic runscorer admitted that he fears to quit. However, he also stated that if he will pack his bags before becoming a burden to the team.

“There is a fear of transformation. Like, I would have to sit at an office 9 to 5 or I have to do coaching. These are big steps to be taken. I too think about it because it will be a new field for me. Once you complete these 20-25 years of playing cricket, I will have to enter a new field. Those who play so long do have a fear of taking that leap.
I too have fear (about quitting) but if I feel that I am becoming a burden (to my team), I will pack my bags. I don’t want to get that sense, that feeling from my teammates,” he concluded.
