Indian team’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who was the highest scorer in the World Cup 2019, wishes to lift the trophy of the World Cup though last year he could not fulfil his dream.

Last year, India was dominating the group stage matches, only losing one game against England. Unfortunately, because of the rare fall of top three batsmen cost them the defeat in the semi-final against New Zealand by 18 runs. However, the World Cup 2019 was a memorable event because he became the first batsman in cricket history to score five centuries in the same mega event. Despite creating a new record, he could not lift the world cup. Well, the Hit-Man is not going to give up his dream.

“Winning the World Cup is a dream of all us, together. I want to win World Cups. Of course, every time you go out there, you want to win every game. But the World Cup is something that you know is the pinnacle of everything. I want to win World Cups,” Rohit said.

The T20 World Cup 2020 which is scheduled in October can get affected because of the outbreak of the coronavirus. Rohit Sharma is concerned that before the mega event stars, the players would be given the time to practice.

“We are really not sure when this World Cup (T20 World Cup) is going to happen. As and when it happens, we will have a fair amount of time to prepare for it. The cricket boards around the world are not going to say ‘everything is fine; we will schedule the World Cup’. Of course, preparation time is going to be given for all the countries because all the countries are under lockdown: nobody’s playing, nobody’s training. The limited stuff at home is not enough,” Rohit said.

The 32-year old has last played in the T20I series against New Zealand this year in February. Since then, he has been on the break and was set to make a comeback in the IPL 2020, which has been postponed indefinitely.
