ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Nissan Trophy Tour To Start In India From March 2

As the much-awaited eighth edition of the International Cricket Council’s Champions Trophy 2017, one of the major tournaments, is scheduled in England which will begin from 1-18 June, the Nissan Trophy tour schedule was decided at its Headquarters in Dubai at the ICC Academy on Tuesday and it will tour to India between March 2 and 15.

The trophy will be unveiled in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

“The global trophy tour is the start of what will be a fantastic summer of cricket celebration in the UK with two major back-to-back events – the ICC Champions Trophy followed by the ICC Women’s World Cup,” ICC Chief Executive David Richardson was quoted as saying by it official website.

The Nissan trophy will be disclosed to the public across all eight participating nations which include 19 cities to give die-hard fans a perfect view of the coveted trophy as the cricket carnival will start exactly after 99 days from here on.

The officials with Nissan tour trophy will depart for India on March 2 before going to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa New Zealand and Australia.

“Our thanks to Nissan for bringing us this global trophy tour, providing the fans from the competing nations with a special experience in the build up to the events,” Richardson said.

The Nissan Tour trophy is scheduled to reach England on May 2, 30 days before the start of the mega event at the Oval in London on June 1.

According to the ICC’s press release, the fans can track the documented details of the trophy through an interactive map on its official website.

“We are confident that the ICC Champions Trophy will be as competitive and thrilling as preceding editions, bringing together some of the finest 50-over cricketers in a short and sharp event in which every match counts,” Richardson added.

However, the details will also be also posted on its social media accounts to hook the fans for the trophy tour.

“We partnered with the ICC to bring cricket fans closer to the excitement of the game. We want the Nissan Trophy Tour to build excitement and anticipation on the journey towards theICC Champions Trophy tournament in the UK in June,” Nissan Global Head of Marketing and Brand Strategy Roel de Vries said after the partnership with ICC.

ICC also invited former Pakistan skipper and all-rounder at the trophy tour launch and further in a bid to promote the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai where the campaign started.

“The ICC Champions Trophy is an event which gives me and millions of Pakistan cricket supporters mixed feelings. It is the only ICC major tournament Pakistan has never won, but at the same time it is the only ICC event in which Pakistan has beaten India. That said, I am sure things will soon change as nothing is permanent in life and sport,” Afridi said at the Trophy tour launch who recently announced his retirement from the international cricket.

2-15 March: Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi
18-21 March: Dhaka
22-25 March: Colombo
28 March-30 March: Karachi
4-12 April: Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town
15-18 April: Auckland
19-27 April: Melbourne and Sydney
2 May: United Kingdom (30 days to go)
