From past many days, there were rumors that the Pakistani umpire Aleem Daw has been taken off from India-England Test series due to unhealthy relations between India and Pakistan from past few times. This air has made news around the world which forced ICC to itself come up clearing all the air regarding the issue,
“Two things – a person can only be withdrawn if he had been appointed first and you know officials of the India-England series were never appointed with Dar in it. So how can someone say he has been withdrawn. Secondly, and more importantly, Dar had been named for the Australia-South Africa series and he is already in Perth for the first Test. Once his appointment was done for that series, it is very wrong to assume he has been withdrawn by ICC for the India series,” the ICC spokesman said.
Through this, ICC has made it clear that Aleem Dar was never a part of India-England series, instead, he will be officiating in the Test series between Austalia and South Africa starting from November 3. Dar will be an on-field umpire in first two games whereas will perform the duties of the third umpire in the third and final Test which will be a day/night fixture to played with a pink ball.
As of now, Kumar Dharmasena is one of the confirmed umpires who will be officiating in the India-England Test series. However, England team may not be happy of this as recently Dharmasena was in news for his N number of gaffes during the recently concluded series between Bangladesh and England. At least 13 of his decisions were overturned by the third umpire.
But England players should be happy that BCCI has agreed on the use DRS in this series with some restrictions, this can prove really helpful for them.
