In a rather sudden end to a debate which led to the recall of Moin Khan, chief selector from the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup 2015, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it had closed the chapter on the issue.
Shahryar Khan, the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman told PTI that Moin Khan met with him and he described what had happened. He also apologized and accepted he should have been more accountable. They have admitted his apology and the debate is closed.
He said that they have closed the controversy because their wound also found nothing that was conflicting to what Moin Khan had already said to them.
The former Pakistani Test skipper, Moin khan had to come back home to an angry reception in Karachi previous week and was aimed by some media channels for his visit to a Casino in Christchurch the night before the game against the West Indies.
Moin Khan had stated that he had gone that casino with some friends to have the dinner on that night. Shahryar Khan said that he had a long discussion with Moin who was contrite for his unsuitable behavior at a time when there was pressure on the Pakistan national squad.
Shahryar Khan also said that Moin Khan admits he made a bad decision. But he stated that he only had dinner with friends and came back to the hotel.
Shahryar Khan was quoted saying: “The rest of the selection committee is already dissolved and we will take a decision on whether to change the chief selector or not after the World Cup.”
Moin Khan on his part said that the issue is closed he has said before he never recognized this would snowball into such a huge debate. He just went to the Casino for dinner on the insistence of his friends.
