ICC To Expel Its Second-Tier Associate Member United States Cricket Association

With the changing dynamics following the revenue model, International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the Full Council should push-out the United States Cricket Association at its crucial meeting in June as the federation has failed to work in collaboration.

“The decision to pass this resolution was not taken lightly by the ICC Board. Our focus throughout this two year process has been on the unification of the USA cricket community behind USACA to grow and develop the sport,” ICC release quoted its Chief Executive David Richardson.

The International Cricket Council says it has decided the full council should consider expelling the US federation at a meeting in June after the federation failed to bring together cricketers and the game in America which further didn’t sit well with global cricket governing body in Dubai.

However, considering the fact, the USACA website stated that it has nursed 32,066 players which include 1,100 cricket clubs followed by 488 grounds for seniors and seniors.

“But it has become clear that this is just not possible and, having invested so much time and resources into helping USACA and with little in the way of cooperation from USACA, the ICC Board now felt that the only remaining option was for the ICC Full Council to consider expulsion of USACA as a member of the ICC,” Richardson added.

Being suspended thrice in twelve years, the USA Cricket Association is considered as Associate Member of the ICC as a second-tier federation has been facing the suspension since 2015.

The reports suggested the resolution will be passed before the all-important meeting which is scheduled between the members of the ICC as well.

As the USACA has not gained the enough followers before few cricket leagues are taking place which further sees the community is not inclined toward cricket.

Adding to the fact USACA would remain under suspension, but would continue to remain as a second-tier member until ICC’s board meeting in June.

“USACA’s refusal to engage in the process, to meet a number of fundamental reinstatement conditions, to provide responses to further requests for information and its apparent failure to put the ICC Board-approved constitution before its members without legitimate excuse undermines the all-important objective of uniting the sport,” Richardson asserted.

The reports suggested that there are fewer subscribers taking to the field of cricket as the different communities are solely avoiding to join the cricket federation as the ICC has remarked that USACA failed to implement the constitution as its member.

“The sport has been fractured in the United States for some considerable time and the board had previously determined that this was unacceptable and needed to be remedied,” statement concluded.

Earlier in 2015, the All-Stars Twenty20 exhibition series was played in the USA, in a bid to make the game popular in America.

Interestingly, the matches were scheduled in Baseball stadiums in USA which is a popular sport in the USA.
