India sealed their Quarter-Final spot as they defeated West Indies by 6 Wickets in a Pool B encounter at the WACA. With this win, India joins New Zealand as the only teams to have made it to the last 8 so far. Mohammad Shami was named as the Man of the Match for his 3 for 35 in 8 overs.

Chasing 183 to win, India were off to a shaky start as they lost the openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma early in the innings to Jerome Taylor. India’s star batsman Virat Kohli too didn’t last long as he pulled an Andre Russell delivery straight into the hands of Marlon Samuels at the deep square leg region for 33. Ajinkya Rahane looked shaky before he was controversially dismissed caught behind off Kemar Roach. Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja too fell in quicktime reducing India to 134-6 with 49 needed. Skipper MS Dhoni and R Ashwin remained calm and took their side home. MS Dhoni remained unbeaten on 45.

Earlier in the day, after choosing to bat, West Indies were bundled out for 183. Indian bowlers showed their class today, like the way they have performed in the tournament so far and silencing their critics. Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav were lightning fast with the new ball and accurate too. Mohit Sharma chipped in with some good ones and R Ashwin continued to impress, bowling slow loopy balls. Shami picked up 3 wickets while Umesh and Ravindra Jadeja picked 2 wickets each. Mohit and Ashwin picked one each.
