Zimbabwe have announced their 15 member squad for the ICC World Cup. There are no huge surprises in the Elton Chigumbra led squad as the selectors opted for a final 15 that has a mixture of both youth and experience. Stylish bastmen Hamilton Masakadza will play his first World Cup after having made his ODI debut in 2001.

The selectors have included Prosper Utseya, who will now bowl medium pace. Earlier, Utseya bowled off-spin but his action was found illegal by the ICC. Selectors have excluded fast-bowler Brian Vitori and Vusi Sibanda on the account of their poor performances.

Experienced campaigner Stuart Matsikenyri has been included in the squad after having last played an ODI for Zimbabwe in February 2012.

Zimbabwe’s new coach Dav Whatmore is happy with the squad and has said that his goal would be to take the team to the quarter-final stage.
