He looked altogether in a different zone after the head coach Ricky Ponting asked him to play a bit quicker than what he is offering at that moment. It worked like a magic for Dhawan.

And also, Shikhar Dhawan quoted that he won’t take any pressure on him, despite the tournament being such a huge one. He doesn’t want to care the critic masters, as he knows what he is capable of doing with his batting ability.
“People tell me about my record in ICC events but frankly speaking, the intent has always been the same. It’s not that the effort is less than 100 percent ever. The focus as always is on the process. I am confident that I will have another good ICC tournament,” Dhawan told PTI during an exclusive interview.

“I am not that sort of a guy who feels the pressure. I have the ability to remain unfazed. And critics? Woh apna kaam kar rahein hain (They are doing their job). If I don’t score runs in 5-10 games, it doesn’t mean that everything is lost. I know what kind of a player I am and what my capabilities are,” said Dhawan, who has 16 ODI hundreds and 5355 runs in 128 ODIs.

Further, the stylish southpaw quoted that he is working on the insights given by Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly in changing his approach on the field.

“Both Ricky and Dada were successful international captains because they had the ability to create champions. Obviously, their experience helps. They told me that there is no problem with my technique,” he added.
Well, it would be interesting to see how Shikhar Dhawan would approach the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. He will be the key member of the Virat Kohli-led side, which will tour England for the grand event. His brilliant records in ICC will make him the cynosure of the eyes.
