In one of those shocking revelations, it comes to know that the superstar of the game AB de Villiers made an offer with the South African board to play the ICC World Cup 2019. However, the team management didn’t accept the offer, which saw AB de Villiers stay away from the tournament.
The flamboyant cricketer has called it quits exactly one year before to the ICC World Cup 2019. However, at the last moment, he asked the board to consider him playing for the grand event in summer. However, surprisingly, the management didn’t accept the request.

The team managed denied AB de Villiers’ return:
As per the reports on ESPN Cricinfo, it is learnt that the offer was made just one day prior to the World Cup squad announcement in the month of May. It is learnt that AB de Villiers approached the Head coach of the team Ottis Gibson and the skipper Faf du Plessis to express his desire to play World Cup by reversing his retirement.
But, it wasn’t the expected reply for AB de Villiers, as the selectors, captain and the head coach weren’t entertained with that. In addition, there are quite a few rules, which denied his return to the World Cup team.

The first aspect was that the player needs to play a domestic tournament at least for a few months to be considered for the selection. Moreover, they felt that it would be unfair for the other cricketers, who are breaking a sweat in the matches to grab a spot in the world cup team.
The revelation comes out following the poor start of the ICC World Cup 2019 by the South African team. They were further dented with the absence of Dale Steyn, who is making his way back home from the grand event owing to his shoulder injury.
They started their campaign against England, where they faced their first defeat and then failed to tackle the Bangladesh team. In the third game, they were outsmarted by the Indian National Cricket Team. Now, they are just a couple of games away from being knocked out of the tournament technically.
