The race for the final of the ongoing cycle of ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 (ICC WTC 2021-23) is heating up with each passing Test. Sri Lanka’s stunning victory over Pakistan in the recently-concluded Galle Test has further spiced up the race.
Before the start of the Test, Pakistan were at the third spot while Sri Lanka were languishing at the sixth spot. And following Sri Lanka’s 246-run win, the tables turned completely. Thanks to the win, Sri Lanka climbed to the third spot while Pakistan dropped down to the fifth spot.
Fortunately for Pakistan, they are still in the race for the ICC WTC final while Sri Lanka have further strengthened their chances of making it to the final.
And while the race for the ICC WTC 2021-23 final is heating up, there is a chance that the summit clash might witness an epic India vs Pakistan clash.
Here’s How ICC WTC 2021-23 Final Can Witness A Mouthwatering India vs Pakistan Clash:
At present, South Africa are at the top of the ICC WTC 2021-23 points table with a points percentage of 71.43%, followed by Australia, who are at 70%.
India, on the other hand, are at the fourth spot, sandwiched between Sri Lanka at third and Pakistan at fifth. All the teams in the top five have a realistic chance of making it to the final of the ICC WTC 2021-23.
And while only time will reveal the name of the finalists, there is no denying that the India and Pakistan fans would be hoping for a India vs Pakistan clash. Well, there is still a chance of the epic clash at next year’s final in England.

Fortunately for India and Pakistan, they still have their fortunes in their own hands and can make it to the final. Pakistan have two more series left in the ongoing ICC WTC 2021-23 cycle and both of them are at home – three Tests against England and two against New Zealand.
If they win all five, their percentage will shoot up to 69.05. Just like Pakistan, India also have two series left – a two-match away series against Bangladesh and a four-match home series against Australia. If India go on to win all of their six Tests, their percentage will jump up to 68.06.
In case, India inflict a whitewash on Australia, the latter will have lesser points than the former and consequently Pakistan. Apart from winning all of their remaining games, India and Pakistan also need South Africa to slipup. If that happens, India and Pakistan could lock horns in the final of ICC WTC 2021-23.
