The South Africa leg-spinner, Imran Tahir, has invited a fine of 20% for his clash with the in-form Australian batsman David Warner during the fifth and final ODI. The incident happened during 38th over of the game when he was engaged in an ugly spat with David Warner and few other Australian players. Despite receiving ‘N’ number of warnings from on-field umpires, Tahir continued to indulge in few rough talks with opposition players which ultimately led to this fine.
It was seen that though Warner landed the first punch to kick off the spat but he soon calmed himself, on the other Tahir continued his rude behavior towards Warner and was in no mood to calm himself.
According to a statement released by ICC, Tahir has breached Article 2.1.1 of ICC code of conduct. In addition to that, two demerit points have also been added to the Tahir’s account and in case two more demerits points are added to his account in next 24 months, he will see himself suspended according to the new rules. ICC has also fined the South African team for slow over-rate in the second innings. Captain Faf Du Plessis have been fined 20% of his match fees and rest of the players have been half of fees for slow over rate which means thatTahir has received life 30% of his match fees.

However, a win, in the end, would have surely been an ointment for Tahir as South Africa whitewashed the Australians by the virtue of defeating them in the final ODI of the series. At one stage, it looked like the David Warner will sail his team past the winning total but his wicket proved to be the turning point of the game and Aussies lost the game. This is the first time when Australia have ben whitewashed in five-match ODI series.
