On the flat deck of Ranchi, Australia was put in to bat by Indian skipper Virat Kohli, as with rain predicted for later in the game, Kohli opted to play safe.
However, Kohli was soon bound for some headache, as Australia’s gun opener Aaron Finch got in his groove and put up a decent show in the powerplay. Against the Indian seamers, mainly against Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, Finch was quite severe, as he drove and cut the ball fiercely. The Victorian looked in a great touch right from the very offset and enjoyed the deck in Ranchi, where the ball comes right up to the sweet spot of his willow.
Despite losing his partners in David Warner and Glenn Maxwell, Finch wasn’t concerned, as he carried on playing his natural game. Watching the right-hander go about his task, it was evident that he was just carrying on with his good work from the ODI series.
Just when you thought that Finch got set for a big score, it was India’s latest spin sensation, Kuldeep Yadav, who struck gold. Finch, batting on 42, premeditated the incoming delivery from Kuldeep, as he relied mainly on sweeping the Chinaman.
However, the ball was just too full to play the shot, and Finch ended up yorking himself, which resulted in his stumps getting shattered. Below, is the video of Finch’s dismissal.
