IND vs AUS 2017: Why Hardik Pandya Wore Mumbai Indians Gloves During Chennai ODI?

Hardik Pandya has been hogging the limelight with some audacious batting performances, and even in the opening ODI against Australia he showed his power hitting abilities, and his all-round performance helped India stage a dramatic comeback and win the rain-curtailed match by 26 runs.

Pandya joined Dhoni in the middle with the score at 87/5 and started rebuilding the innings. All of a sudden he changed his gear and started belting Adam Zampa all over the Chepauk.

For the 4th time in his relatively short career, Pandya smashed a hat-trick of sixes, and it was yet again power hitting at its very best. Pandya smashed five fours and as many sixes during his 66 balls 83 which changed the complexion of the match.

MS Dhoni also played a vital hand of 79 of 88 deliveries to help India post a competitive total of 281/7 in their allotted 50 overs.

However, Pandya was seen wearing his Mumbai Indians gloves, and the observation was made by some of the Twitter users. It is not common for international cricketers to wear their IPL gears during an international match. Pandya announced his arrival on the big stage in the year 2015, when he was representing the Mumbai Indians.

His raw talent was exposed to the world by Mumbai after the all-rounder played a match-winning innings against Chennai Super Kings and from there on there was no looking back for him.

Pandya feels Mumbai Indians is his lucky charm and that is the reason he was wearing the Mumbai Indians gloves during the 1st ODI in Chennai.

At Mumbai Indians, they just wanted me to enjoy my game, and I was just a young kid expressing himself, and who eventually got success. I was getting used to the fame. No one knew who Hardik Pandya was before 2015 IPL. I got picked for Rs 10 lakh. If people knew me, I would have got a lot more money, not that it’s only about the money. I was from a struggling family. Well, we had a family, and then things changed, father’s health and all had a grave effect. That helped us. Where we are standing now is because of that situation. It is because how we coped with that,” Pandya had said in an interview tIndian Express.
