Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and Sanjay Manjrekar heaped praise on Suryakumar Yadav for his mature knock against Australia in the first ODI against Australia in Mohali. The Indian 360-degree batter scored his third international fifty in the 50-over format of the game on Friday.
Suryakumar Yadav and the Indian team management could sigh relief after he produced a well-composed half-century in a winning cause in the first ODI in Mohali, following his three successive golden ducks against Australia in the ODI series in March.
Taking his X handle, Virender Sehwag hailed Suryakumar Yadav for his match-winning knock against Australia, as he feels that the star Indian batter creates fear in the opposition and lauded the team management for backing him going into the ODI World Cup.
Happy for @surya_14kumar .
He is surely an ex-factor . Not many players have the ability to play in the gear that he can and he surely has the game to create fear in the minds of opposition. Great that we have persisted with him and he will be an asset. Congratulations Bharat. pic.twitter.com/rxe3oVAXeO— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) September 22, 2023

Suryakumar Yadav scored 50 runs in 49 balls with the help of five fours and a six. Three perfectly timed straight drives from SKY showed his class in the game and the star batter rotated the strike very well alongside skipper KL Rahul to help India secure a 5-wicket win over the Aussies in Mohali.
Former Indian cricket Sanjay Manjrekar was also elated with the knock of Suryakumar Yadav against Australia, as he lauded the Mumbai-born cricketer for his commitment to the game.
Another important box named SKY got ticked for Ind tonight.
That Surya didn’t play single sweep shot in the whole innings exemplified his commitment to making a name for himself in 50 overs cricket too. 👏👏👏#WorldCup2023— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) September 22, 2023

The Indian team management handed Suryakumar Yadav the new role of the finisher at the No.6 spot in the ODI team after his poor performance at the No.4 spot and the cricketer seems to be preparing well for the event going into the marquee event.
The 32-year-old is considered one of the most innovative and naturally gifted batters in the world as he redefined the shorter format of the game in recent years, and can take the game away from the opponents in a short period but has struggled to get going in the ODI format and would look to continue his fine form heading into the World Cup in India.
