The last time Sri Lanka toured India for a Test series was way back in 2009, seven years back where they played a three-match Test series, losing 0-2 to the hosts.
Earlier, Virat Kohli led Indian side whitewashed Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka by 9-0 across all the formats. The squad consisting of 15 members will start their practice sessions on Thursday ahead of their two-day practice game against a third tier Board President XI starting from November 11 at the Jadavpur University (2nd Campus Ground).
“They will take rest today and hit the nets tomorrow afternoon,” the local manager was heard saying.
However, Thilan Samaraweera, who was confirmed as the batting coach of the Sri Lankan Cricket team a few days back couldn’t fly with the team, as he didn’t get his visa on time. A spokesperson for the Sri Lankan Cricket Board confirmed that Samaraweera would likely to get his visa by Friday.
Notably, Sri Lanka got their Test form back, as they beat Pakistan 2-0 in UAE, but lost the ODI series 5-0.
Sri Lanka squad: Dinesh Chandimal (captain), Dimuth Karunaratne, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Lahiru Thirimanne (vice-captain), Niroshan Dickwella (wicketkeeper), Dilruwan Perera, Rangana Herath, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Gamage, Dhananjaya de Silva, Angelo Mathews, Lakshan Sandakan, Vishwa Fernando, Dasun Shanaka and Roshen Silva.
