IND vs SL 2017: Michael Clarke Terms Virat Kohli as ‘The best’ After Nagpur Hundred

While Aussie skipper Steven Smith is ruling the Ashes, there was no way Virat Kohli could have sat and watched. Drifting away from the humorous part, Virat Kohli proved once again why he is the very best of the generation. The Indian captain smashed yet another mesmerising century which was marked by sheer class.
After completing his fifty on the second Day, Kohli welcomed the 3rd reaching the 100 run mark in style. Cheteshwar Pujara who had a hundred to his name already, provided brilliant support to the skipper as the two dealt with the Sri Lankans with ease.

The century marked Virat’s 19th in Tests as inches closer to Steve Smith’s 21 Test hundreds, a milestone which the latter achieved in the ongoing Ashes Test. Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke took to micro-blogging site Twitter to hail Virat Kohli for being the absolute beast he has turned into, in the past few years.
Clarke shared ESPN’s post mentioning Kohli’s magnificent ton and labelled the batsman as the ‘The best’. Clarke had previously stated that Virat Kohli and Steven Smith are two best batsmen of the current generation. He also specified that while Kohli has the upper hand in the limited over formats, Smith edges past the Indian skipper in the longest format of the game.
However, Kohli is still unbeaten at the crease on 123 as the Indians are in the driver’s seat. Cheteshwar Pujara, who was cleaned up by Shanaka, is the only batsman to fall victim on the day but not before contributing 143 runs to the total. The Indian scoreboard now reads 404 at the loss of 3 wickets at lunchtime with a massive lead of 199 runs.
Already in deep trouble, Dinesh Chandimal and his men will have to pull off a miracle to gain something out of this encounter.
