India bowling a concern ahead of World Cup 2015

The Indian bowling was a disappointment for the team in the recently concluded test series against Australia. The Indian team in the first innings of all the four Test matches conceded 500 runs which proved to be one of the reasons why the Indian team lost the Test series 0-2. Ishant Sharma was the leading bowler who saved his face in the Test series, Shami despite taking 15 wickets did not bowl as well as he can. In the second Test, Australia were 247 for 6 and the tail wagged which lead to the India’s defeat. The Indian bowlers did not bowl good line and length to dismiss the Australian batsman twice. In the 2011 and England the Indian pace battery consisting of Zaheer Khan who got injured was ruled out of the series, Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar was the only bowlers who took wickets otherwise it was very disappointing tour to remember. In 2014 tour of England India did well to win the Test match at Lords but after that the team did not perform and went on to lose the series 1-3.

In the previous two tours of South Africa and NewZeland the India’s inability to pick 20 wickets was the main issue and they lost the Test matches 1-0 in both countries respectively. In South Africa the first Test was prime example of how India bowlers really struggled to defend the score 458 and almost lost the match. In that match Zaheer khan was not at his best, Sharma struggled and Shami was lone warrior who battled till the last and eventually the match was drawn. Another match showed the incapability of  of the Indian bowlers was the Wellington Test when Newzeland was in tatters in the second innings. The lack of genuine fast bowler costs Indians match and the home team managed to draw the match.

Before the World Cup the Indian team will play tri nation series which involves Australia and England. The main challenge for the young team will be for the bowlers have who bowled a lot of over’s in the test series. The main problem of this team will be the death bowling which has been a concern for the One day international team.

With the World Cup a month away the Indian captain must have settled combination with bowling line up. This team has all the batting power to put huge scores, but the main problems will their bowling. MS Dhoni must know his spinners. Let’s hope that India’s bowling worry goes away and this team can bring back the cup again.
