As it is said that “Success requires dogged determination”, the India Red batsmen seemed to be working on this principle on day 2 as the scenes on were totally different from Day 1 which was dominated by the bowlers.

The match went according to script in first few hours of the second day’s play with rain coming down as a spoilsport but vanished soon. As expected the India green lower order batsmen were dismissed soon adding 35 runs to the teams’ total. Now it was time for India Red to again come to bat and face the pink ball torture but what we saw in the next few hours was out of context.

The India Red batsmen apart from Kona Bharat took lessons from their first innings failure and unlike the first innings, they played attacking cricket trying to get every ball out of the boundary. The batsmen were never reluctant to go after the ball which was evident at the start of the innings when Kona Bharat smashed a six. The trend was followed by other batsmen and each of the succeeding batsmen tried to go after the ball which was key to success on this pitch with this Pink ball.

Abhinav Mukund scored a century in just 120 balls, scoring 22nd century his first class career. Chatterjee too was batting like him and he too played aggressively scoring a century off 154 balls. Chatterjee crossed the century line with two consecutive fours off all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh, Jalaj Saxena. Both shared a partnership of 240 runs which is 79 more than the runs score by the whole team in the first innings.

Mukund and Chatterjee both registered an epic turnaround as once it looked like Pink ball will end careers of many as bowlers were ripping apart the batsmen causing havoc but now it batsmen has decoded and found a formula how to play with the pink ball.

India Red is leading by 354 runs with still 7 wickets still in hand.

Captain Yuvraj Singh will be cautious of the fact that bowl is not doing much off the pitch after the rain and he may have planned to lead his team with the bat for one more session in which they will aim to score 100 to 110 runs to post a huge target in front of India Green
