India to tour Zimbabwe in July

Sidharth Gulati / 20 April 2015

As per the reports in Mumbai Mirror, the Indian Cricket Team will fly to Zimbabwe for a short series in July following the tour to Bangladesh, which is scheduled to take place shortly after IPL 8.

It has been learnt that team India will play 3 ODIs and 2 T20s against Zimbabwe during the first half of July. The series has not been officially announced by either board – the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) – but one understands that it is a part of Future Tour Programme bilaterally signed by the two boards earlier this year.

After the tour of Zimbabwe, the team will head to Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series, which will most probably be Virat Kohli’s first major assignment as India’s Test captain. From October, the team will host South Africa for a full-tour. The bilateral exchange programme with South Africa so far involved only three Tests but from now on the countries will play four Tests, both home and away. After this series, the team is expected to play Pakistan in the UAE but there is nothing final about it as whether the series takes place or not will depend on a lot of factors.
