India vs Australia 2019, 2nd T20I: Toss Report

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first against India in the second and final T20I at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Here is what the captains said:

Aaron Finch:

“We are going to bowl first. Looks like a good wicket, so hopefully we can chase this down. We back ourselves to chase the target down. If at all there is going to be anything for the pacers it is going to be up front, so would like to exploit that. No changes for us”

Virat Kohli:

“We would have bowled first as well. Like Aaron said it’s a good wicket. Looks like the old Bangalore wicket and that’s a good sign. Looks like there has been a lot of hardwork done to prepare and maintaint the pitch. Shot selection was something we discussed. The bowling was outstanding. We need to get used to playing big games. Three changes. Rohit is rested, Shikhar comes in. Markande comes in for Vijay Shankar, because of the pitch conditions.”

Preview:

The last time India had played a T20I at this venue, they were in a similar situation. Their three-match series against England in 2017 was locked at 1-1 before India came up with a dominating performance to dismantle the visitors by 75 runs. India will be looking to come up with a similar performance when they take on the Aussies in the upcoming game. India’s three-year long unbeaten streak at home is at stake.

The Men in Blue had last lost a T20I series at home way back in 2015 when South Africa had blanked them 2-0. India are now on the verge of losing their first series since 2015 at home. Virat Kohli & Co. will be favourites again to win the game but should guard against complacency against an Australian side which is more than capable of beating the best of the teams on its day.

Teams:

India:

Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli(c), Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni(w), Dinesh Karthik, Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Siddarth Kaul

Australia:

D Arcy Short, Marcus Stoinis, Aaron Finch(c), Glenn Maxwell, Peter Handscomb(w), Ashton Turner, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff, Adam Zampa
