Both teams will undertake RTPCR testing upon arrival at their respective hotels, according to a source from the DDCA. Since there is no bubble for this tournament, both teams will undergo routine RTPCR testing. South Africa will start their practice sessions on June 5.

“94 percent of the tickets have been sold. There are about 400-500 tickets left,” DDCA joint secretary Rajan Manchanda said.

The match between India and South Africa will be played on Thursday, June 9 at 7:00 pm. The match between India and South Africa will be played at Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi.

“Around 27,000 tickets were put up for sale. In its effort to improve the fan experience, senior citizens will have the option to use a golf cart to enter the stadium,” he said.

South Africa won a three-match ODI series against India earlier this year in South Africa. Prior to that, they won a Test series as well. The Indian team has a good chance to give it back to their South African counterparts in the forthcoming T20I series.

India vs South Africa 5 Match T20I Series: DDCA Requests Fans To Adhere To Covid-19 Protocols

Both teams have announced their respective T20I squads are packed with big-hitters. They are fresh from an IPL season and thus will not take much time to get into the thick of things.

“Our staff is being tested regularly. We request the fans to adhere to COVID protocols and wear masks at all times,” Manchanda added.

Though the COVID-19 situation is under control, the DDCA has requested spectators to wear masks at all times except eating and drinking. With senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli among others resting, India will be led by KL Rahul with Rishabh Pant playing his deputy. Proteas, meanwhile, features a full-strength side that will be led by Temba Bavuma.

Indian team welcomes the return of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who had a brilliant IPL 2022 as captain of title-winning Gujarat Titans. The Men in Blue squad also features IPL 2022 excellent performers like pacers Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, and keeper Dinesh Karthik among others. South African squad features many IPL stars including the likes of batter David Miller, and pacers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. The Proteas will be playing their first T20 since the 2021 T20I World Cup last year.

India, on the other hand, are on the verge of breaking the record for most consecutive T20 wins, having gone level with Afghanistan with 12 wins in as many games since last November. India and South Africa have so far met in 15 T20 matches with India enjoying a 9-6 lead in the head-to-head battle in the shortest format.
