India vs Sri Lanka, Delhi Test: Delhi Domestic Bowlers To Present Their Case For India Selection

The last of the Test series between India and Sri Lanka will be played at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi. This has come up as an opportunity for the Delhi Ranji Trophy pacers to present a case for India selection. If the reports are to be believed, there is news that selectors and Indian team management will be keenly watching the fast bowlers of Delhi in the net session.

Undoubtedly, the main attractions will be Navdeep Saini and Kulwant Khejroliya. Saini, a right-arm pacer, is a regular member of India A and was part of the team that travelled to South Africa. He was also part of the first-class side for the series against New Zeland A and has grabbed the selectors attention with his performances in domestic cricket. He is surely a bowler to watch out for, and it will be no surprise if he moves ahead of Jasprit Bumrah for selection in India squad for the Test series against South Africa.

The second bowler is Kulwant Khejroliya. A late bloomer in cricket, Khejroliya made his debut in first-class cricket this year and hasn’t been much favourable. In three matches played till now, he just has five wickets to his name.

He is a List A specialist player and has taken 17 wickets in just seven games. In his debut List A season last year, riding on great performances in Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made it to the India B squad for the Deodhar Trophy. He was also included in Board President’s XI squad to face Australia before the start of ODI series in September.

He can represent his case for the limited overs series against South Africa.

Both Saini and Khejroliya are doing well in different formats, and team management will be closely watching these two. Chances of Saini making it to the Indian team looks fair enough as selectors have groomed him by selection in the A team and he has done well.

A surprise factor attached with Khejroliya can go in his favour. He is a left-arm pacer, something that India is looking for at the moment and he seems to be one of the few prospects who can be tested.

The third Test in Delhi starts on December 2 while the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals start on December 8. In short, these two pacers have enough time to impress Indian team management during the Test match itself and present a case for future.
