India defeated Sri Lanka by 3 wickets in the fifth and final ODI at Ranchi and handed the islanders first ever series whitewash in ODI’s. Both the captais scored a=tons and remained not out on 139. They did break few records in the process. Here are the list of all the records that were broken in the fifth ODI.


1- First ever ODI series whitewash faced by Sri Lanka in ODI’s.

3- ODIs where captains from both teams have made centuries. The other instances are India vs Bangladesh, Fattulah and Ireland vs England at Dublin.

5- Number of series whitewashes achieved by India in ODI’s. Among the 5, two are against England, one each against New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

10- Number of sixes scored by Angelo Mathews during his innings of 139 not-out, the second highest by any Sri Lankan in ODI’s.

10- Highest number of sixes a batsman has scored against India in an innings. Mathews has equalled Pollard’s record yesterday.

14- Number of hundreds Kohli has scored while chasing. 13 off them came in winning cause.

21- Number of centuries scored by Virat Kohli in his ODI career.

100- Number of matches won by India against Sri Lanka, their highest against any opposition. The 100 matches is a combination of 83 ODIs, 14 Tests and 3 T20I’s.

138- Number of innings Kohli took to score 21 hundreds. Fastest to do so.

139*- Highest Individual score by Angelo Mathews in ODI surpassing his previous best of 93.

1062- Runs scored by Mathews in 2014, more than any other batsman. Kohli is just behind, with 1054 runs.
