India began day 4 at 70/1 with Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane in the crease. Both the players looked well settled at the crease and the Sri Lankan bowlers hardly troubled the duo. While Murali Vijay played took the attack to the Sri Lankan bowlers Rahane played the second fiddle rotating the strike.

Both Rahane and Murali Vijay brought up their half centuries after a while. As soon as getting to fifty Vijay accelerated and scored at a quick rate. Later Vijay departed after a gritty knock of 82 sweeping to a delivery which didn’t turn much and trapped him in front of the pads.

Skipper Virat Kohli joined Rahane at the crease and his stay was very short. Kohli got out for 10 playing on the back foot to a delivery which he should have played in the front foot.

Rahane is looking solid at the crease with a well compiled 82. Rahane and Rohit Sharma went on to lunch leaving India at 179/3 with a healthy lead of 266 runs.

Post-tea session

Rahane and Rohit guided India safely to get a lead of over 300. Rahane went on to register his fourth Test century with all coming away from home. After getting to his century Rahane accelerated his innings but counter attacking the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Rohit, who looked good at the crease departed for 34. Looking to be aggressive Rohit lost his wicket going for a slog sweep. Rahane after getting too 126 went for a booming drive outside off-stump to a delivery from Kaushal and eventually got out.

Saha who suffered a hamstring blow left the field after getting to 5. Binny hit couple of boundaries which took India’s lead to 370. India left Tea at 283/5.
