With India’s World T20 campaign about to begin, we shall look at the bowling options for death overs which have been one of the main problems for India in recent times.

Varun Aaron:

Recognized as one of the speediest pacers in Indian Domestic Circuit, Aaron is the quickest in the present squad. But except the speed he generates he doesn’t show any variations in his bowling on normal tracks like in Bangladesh. He could trouble the batsmen with his speeds in death overs but his place in the final XI is tough with the present competition.

Ravichandran Ashwin:

Widely known for carom balls and producing new weapons with his off-spin Ashwin is a different type of bowler. He bowls pause deliveries too. He is one of the main options for MS Dhoni for final overs in recent times. He shows variations with his off spin and could be the man India wanted.

Ravindra Jadeja:

One of the dangerous bowlers in the recent is surely Jadeja. He can perform well producing some spin on any type of track. His main weapon is straighter deliveries and flippers by which he has trapped many batmen. He is a crucial bowler in the final stages who restrict opposition with his tight lengths.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar:

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is widely known for produce swing on both sides of the ball. He bowls great 1st spell but couldn’t continue in the death overs. This meant his overs would be completed straight away or couldn’t complete his 10 overs. Kumar eventually focus on death bowling by which he has produced some Yorkers and full-lengths in final overs whenever he has been given the responsibility. He could be the proper option if he consistently bowls those good lengths.

Amit Mishra:

As per the age Mishra is the 3rd oldest among the squad and most experienced bowler than others. He had improved a lot in his bowling, which is perfectly matching the shorter format of the game. Even then his record is not great in death overs when compared with his performance. Batsmen feel easy to hit this leggie in the final overs.

Mohammed Shami:

Shami has been a sensation in Indian bowling. He has been the pick of the bowlers in last few series. Even then he leaks runs easily besides picking wickets. Coming to the death overs, he regularly picks wickets but couldn’t end with good economy rate. He must improve to be considered for death overs.

Mohit Sharma:

With Shami and Bhuvi probably the pacer to be picked and Aaron as 3rd or replacement of above two, Mohit Sharma many not make it to the line-up. He has been a great performer with ball in domestic circuit and in the Indian Premier League for MS Dhoni’s team CSK. He recognized his ability and took into the squad. But his weakness is similar to Bhuvaneshwar who end up well in the front overs only. He could be an option if he focuses on Death overs bowling.

Looking at the players in the present squad MS Dhoni the Indian captain and Indian management concerning the options for Death overs they may go with Jadeja, Ashwin and Bhuvaneshwar. Bowling with spinners in death was Ganguly style which was effective but haven’t followed in between which was brought again recently. With Bhuvi’s ability of bowling good lengths, he could be considered if lack of overs for the two spinners.
