India tour of South Africa next year might see the Indian women team travelling to South Africa for three matches T20I series against the hosts.
As per a report in The Indian Express, the Cricket South Africa (CSA) had requested BCCI to send their women’s team for the T20I series. Reportedly, the Indian board decided to accept the offer, thus making T20I competitions a double header, where women’s team will play the first game of the day followed by competition between men’s team,
“They had requested us and we have accepted their proposal. It will help women’s team a lot and the matches will be shown live too. It will be played in the same stadium before India games. The BCCI is planning to have similar kind of activity for women’s in future too. There will be more India A games for women’s team in future,” sources told The Indian Express.

It might also turn out to be the first international fixture for Indian women’s team post the World Cup 2017. BCCI is yet to announce any upcoming fixtures for the finalist of the quadrennial tournament, and there are chances of this being the first series for Indian women’s team. Though a shorter one, the overseas experience will be of the utmost help.
Last year as well, the Indian women’s team was in South Africa for a quadrangular series, where Jhulan Goswami became the highest wicket taker in women’s cricket.

If the tour goes as per the plan, then it will be a second time in three years when India women and men will play a game on the same day (bilateral series). As in 2016 as well, India women’s team travelled to Australia for three matches T20I series followed by ODIs as well.
The T20Is were broadcasted, as men’s team also played T20I at the same venue, same day. Though the ODIs were not televised. This time again, the chances of T20Is being televised are quite well, which will be another boost for women’s cricket in India.
