Indian women beat New Zealand by 8 wickets

Indian eves beat New Zealand by 8 wickets in the fourth One day International at Chinaswamy Stadium, Bangalore just few moments ago. It was an excellent batting performance by the Indian women’s team.

Chasing 221 the Indian innings got off to a great start with Kamini and Madhana putting 49 for the first wicket in 14.5 overs. Madhana and Mithali Raj put up a match winning 110 runs for the second wicket stand. Madhana was dismissed for 63. In the process, Mithali Raj completed 5000 ODI runs in women’s cricket. Harman preet Kaur and scored 32 off 25 balls. Mithali Raj was not out on 80. India won the match by 8 wickets with 34 balls to spare. 

Earlier in the day, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat. The kiwi innings got off to a poor start losing Priest for 2. Sattherwaite and Bates put up 62 second wicket stand before Bates was dismissed for 27 runs and soon 10 runs later Sattherwaite was dismissed for 43. For the fourth wicket Green and Devine put 58 run stand. After that they lost regular wickets but at the end Devine played a great knock of 89 and helping New Zealand reach a competitive total of 220. The pick of the bowlers for India were Gaykwad and Nirajana picking 3 wickets each, Kaur 2 and Jhulan, Poonam picking 1 each wicket.

With this win India square the series 2-2 and the final match is on 8th July at the same ground.
