Pakistan’s star all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is ruled out for at least two weeks due to a hand injury. As per the reports, Hafeez got injured when he was attending one of the fielding sessions yesterday ahead of first T20 international against Australia beginning 5th October.
Reports also claim his webbing, which is the area between the thumb and index finger, got split during fielding practice. It is believed webbing split occurred on his left hand. As a result of this injury he will miss the both T20 and ODI series against Australia which means a huge setback for hosts Pakistan.
Pakistan will miss Hafeez dearly, as they are already without their best spinner – Saeed Ajmal – who is banned from bowling by ICC in international cricket due to his suspect action. This inury will weaken Pakistan bowling as they now are without their two most lethal spinners.
Pakistan, though, have not named a replacement for Hafeez, but it is widely understood that selectors will pick a player from the Pakistan A team which is already in the UAE. Players like Nasir Jamshed, Sharjeel Khan or Sami Aslam are prime candidates to replace Hafeez.
