Past couple of years has been injury prone for the England pacer James Anderson, who has been injured a total of four times during this period, which has affected his bowling and has led to the Lancashire bowler missing games for England.
Yesterday as well, another injury scare erupted as bowling for Lancashire, Anderson collapsed in the county championship game against Yorkshire, which forced him to leave the field after bowling only 5.3 overs, before Ryan McLaren completed the over by bowling remaining three deliveries.
Injury to Anderson has come as a big scare for England, who have a long list of Test cricket coming their way. To start with, England faces South Africa in a four Test match home series in a period of seven weeks. Following that, they will host West Indies in a historical Test series, the first Test of which will be Day/Night contest to be played at Edgbaston, with a pink ball.
Anderson, who is still the key for England Test side, played his last Test game in the fourth match of the series against India in Mumbai. He was originally not a part of the team but was later added to the side a few days before the start of the series. He was part of the playing XI in the second, third and fourth game before he missed the Chennai Test, which turned out to be a historical one, thanks to a triple century from Karun Nair. Prior to this, Anderson also missed the Test series against Bangladesh due to injury.
Joe Root, the England’s Test skipper will be hoping for Anderson’s availability for the upcoming challenges that await England. The Test series between South Africa and England kicks off from July 6.
This will be a series of redemption for the hosts as last time South Africa toured England for Test series, it was Proteas that won by a margin of 2-1.
